Hour follows hour;
Day follows day
Year follows year
And the years speed by
We know not whither
And none knows why
We are here
Adown a widening stream
We are floating
Not known where it is leading
Heedless on, the wave
Pushes life-boat moving
The world is hard and cruel
And the sunshine falls
Over us, over all equal
And men shall
Live, love, aspire
With God’s blessings spell
Let us live life inconspicuous
As if fate does not notice us
Let us be very humble
And see the beauty of quietness
Let us seek the love of simple people
And regard their ignorance, which
Is better than all our intelligence
Let us be content and silent
Meek and gentle like them in our little space
This is one of the wisdoms of life
