Monkey Mind
- - - - - - - - - -
The sun rises and sets
Into rain turn clouds
Born are the plants
Some to become trees
And some to die soon
They abide by rules
Rules of universe
Trusting and accepting
That whatever happens
Happens for the highest good
But the funny mind
Thinks thoughts infinite
In musing lonely
They drift so swift
Of potential rewards
Of missed opportunities
Of future actions and so on
Oh, I wish
I were richer
I were healthier
I were more beautiful
I were more knowledgeable
Forgetting to respect ourselves
Forgetting to be contented
With whatever we have
Hence a sense of lack we experience
Not realizing our wholeness
Into as many pieces as possible
We can break a container of glass
But the same innate nature
To which each piece belongs
Likewise each of us
Is one of those pieces
That belongs to this perfect universe
Slowing down the restless mind
Can help realize the wholeness of being
Mindfulness stills the mind
Deepens our clarity
Calms our anxieties
Thereby enhancing confidence
By taming our monkey mind
Nice poem with beautiful title-words are jerky- Slowing down the restless mind Can help realize the wholeness of being thank you
Slowing down the restless mind Can help realize the wholeness of being Mindfulness stills the mind Deepens our clarity Calms our anxieties We thirst for more and more and in our quest to satisfy our thirsts, we only grow more restless! Man has to learn to tame his monkey mind! Then only he can be at peace with himself! Enjoyed the poem much!
But the funny mind thinks thoughts infinite in musing lonely. Very beautiful presentation and orientation of poem is excellent. Each line transfers and each stanza transfers a very nice message. But whatever may be mindfulness stills the mind. Outstanding poem shared in forum.
Slowing down the restless mind Can help realize the wholeness of being Mindfulness stills the mind Deepens our clarity Calms our anxieties...the simile of the broken glass pieces and the mindfulness which makes us calm......... you use the technique of contrasts very effectively here dear poet. tony
A Beautiful poem with great message. Very true said, man is never satisfied with whatever he has, and he craves for more and more. It becomes very necessary to tame our monkey mind to lead a peaceful life. Beautiful presentation. Loved it.
A foolish monkey mind always tries to imitate, Imitation is a devise of learning but when overoptimism dominates it becomes a headache.............10
