Whispering Eyes Poem by Nick Downer

Whispering Eyes

Your eyes do whisper softly unto me,
their endless depths draw me into your soul.
The pain I fall upon makes my own eyes,
fill with countless tears your sad eyes once cried.
A smile slowly spreads across your lips,
lips that taste like rain from the tears that fall,
slowly doen your cheeks, a river of pain.
I know by that smile you are trying hard
to disguise the pain so that I can't see,
but your eyes reveal your secrets my love.
In them I visit places deep inside
but only I can see the pain that's there.
I feel your skin absorbing mine in touch,
when I engulf your body with my arms.
I feel your heart beat softly next to mine,
a heart that's marked with scars from endless pain.
I wish I could reach in, and with a touch,
I'd heal the hurt the monsters put in you.
If I could I'd make it my own so I,
could free the hurt and pain forever.
The only think I can give you, dear,
is my own heart that beats for you alone.
I'll always answer when your eyes do call,
for me to come in and hold you awhile.
