When Things Get Tough Poem by Silence Dogood

When Things Get Tough

When things get tough and I wanna run away.
Its your smile and your touch that makes me stay.
When the pain seems endless and life means little.
Its your voice that gives it meaning in lifes hidden riddles.

What if you had never come and wiped the tears from my eyes.
I know what would of become of me as I continued to die inside.
Pain was all I felt till your words reached my ears.
I was broken inside crying crimson tears.

But you put my heart back together again and eased my pain.
You picked me up off the ground and banished the shame.
What would I be if you never entered my life.
Would I just vanish while sleeping one night.

Would I ever have smiled or blinked with brown eyes.
Would I have continued to bleed and die inside.
I cried these crimson tears for so long that my tears are red.
My bleeding wrists were memories of the days that I bled.

If life is a fairytale weres my happily ever after.
The endless smiles and days of laughter.
Cause I know for a fact that life is no bedtime story.
Its full of death, loss, pain, and cheated glory.

If it werent for you I wouldnt dance in the rain.
Cause all I felt was an endless pain.
When things get tough and I want to run away.
Its your smile and your touch that makes me stay.
