When They Hard As Nails Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

When They Hard As Nails

When they, hard as nails, hearts like iron
Filled my sleep with nightmares, and all my days
Creating memories that broke all asunder
I stood resolute and endured with faith untouched
With firm in belief in the man from Galilee
And his promise made to those who follow him
Never to die and be bathed eternally in God's love.
When they fierce tongued with lies the truth
Trying to break the shell and forcing my steps
Towards Hell's gates and churning sea of fire
There was always the song my father sang
As he cradled me in his arms, his second son
Echoing soft and sweetly within my mind
And I stood firm and resolute enduring the blows.
