What Must I Do With The Dark-Head? Poem by Gert Strydom

What Must I Do With The Dark-Head?

(after Piet van Rooyen)

My doll, my loveliest thing,
I cannot get my messages to you without electricity,
when you phone I do get a tingle.
What do I have to do with the dark-head?
I pray as I see no direction,
the mobile towers are down and the signal far too weak,
just to think about you makes my heart beat faster,
while the redbreast outside sings for its mate.
Girl, for me you are a darling,
a beautiful person whose words and acts circle out further,
you are the one that stops my heart
and also my great healing.
For you I must watch-out and beware,
you can turn my life upside-down and also to the right way.
