What If? Poem by Richie Duprey

What If?

Rating: 3.8

What if I told you it wasn't a game?
It wasn't my aim, I'm not to blame.
What if I told you I'm feeling fine?
I'm not going to hold up a sign, this problem is mine.

What if I said I didn't feel free?
Would you start to see, or listen to me?
What if I said my vision had gone?
No more cheerful songs, nowhere to be belong.

What if I cried and poured out my heart?
Would you just call it art, or would it tear you apart?
What if I cried and let it all slip?
Would you take it on the lip, or say I've lost grip?

What if the time came for me to go?
Could you let go? Would you even know?
What if the time came for the ultimate change?
Would you help me along, would you call me deranged?

What if I smiled at you?
Would you give me one too, or would you walk on through?
What if I wanted to just be me?
Would you now start to see, why I want to be free?

How you don't really know how somebody is going to respond if you reveal anything about what hurts you to them. And how you wish you could ask first.
