Locked Away Poem by Richie Duprey

Locked Away

"Follow me, dear child, "
Snapped the words like a 'gater from the Nile.
He follows with innocence in his heart.
Little did he know, the world he knew would soon depart.

It was not a game he wanted to play,
It left him with words he wasn't willing to say.
The childhood he knew so well had now gone,
Nowhere to run, no place to seek shelter from the pain thereon.

The boy, left shaken, hiding in his room,
Wishing he had not been concieved and torn from the womb.
That demon, that villain, the one who stole it all,
in the boy's mind forever, waiting for him to fall.

How can it be taken so easily?
A young boy left with a fragile mind, knowing he was once free.
The thoughts taking over now, years later.
Anxious of the return of his violator.

How can one clear the mind,
When such thoughts creep up and make you blind?
"Things must get better! " said the now young man.
"I'll keep strong and I will get better - all because I can."
