Welcome To The New World Order Poem by Raymond Farrell

Welcome To The New World Order

Rating: 4.5

When I was a kid
The big American companies
Wrapped themselves
In the Stars and Stripes
Saluted the flag
Made out to be
As American as apple pie
Pledged allegiance
To God and country
But when the money
Wasn't flowing in as freely
They packed their bags
And in their thirst for more money
Their greed took them abroad
Looking for cheap labor
Leaving behind many citizens
Jobless and hopeless
In the aftermath
The multinationals from around the world
Have been happy to cut a deal
With any country
Who will allow their citizens
To be exploited and forced
To work long hours
For low wages
Welcome
To the New World Order
Where a greedy few
From here and there
Are consolidating the world's wealth
In their hands
While everyone else
Is about to drown
In poverty and debt.
