We Praise Jesus Poem by Doris Clore Demaree

We Praise Jesus

Crowds went to Jesus for health and care.
With love they followed him everywhere.
Was he the king they were looking for?
A king who would conquer, a king of war?
But a lowly donkey Jesus rode,
A peaceful king to them he showed.
Through the crowd he made his way
Into Jerusalem that day.
No soldier followed with flashing sword,
But children did! With one accord
They raised their glad hosannas loud.
'Here comes our king!' shouted the crowd.

Our voices high in love we raise
And sing of Christ in joyous praise.
