Was I Speeding? Poem by Dennis Murphy

Was I Speeding?

Rating: 5.0

I drive under a digital sign
A twenty foot square omen of the times
'Report Suspicious Behavior' and I wonder
Is that how it started in Berlin? My mind thunders

The right to bear arms as long as they're not automatic
Freedom of speech as long as your words don't start static
If you have money you'll go far
If you don't, Keep your hands on the car

Driving is a privledge not a right, Why?
'You can't take away a right' This I don't buy
Life, Liberty, Happiness as long as we can tax it
Blonde hair, Blue eyes, whiteskin or your unfit

As each right is chiseled and scraped
Whats left takes a swastikas shape
Our founding fathers had great insight I swear
If born today all would be rotting in cells somewhere

Good evening Herr officer, Was I speeding?
