Pretend Forget Poem by Dennis Murphy

Pretend Forget

Rating: 4.3

The missile nocked, Drawn tensions high
Your cruel words spoken, The bolt let fly
Precise straight and true, As such the art
Through armor breastplate and defence, Explodes my heart

My vision is tricked, Depth perception failing
Blood leaves my knees white, I fear gravity's wailing
Never before amazed, Tried true tested in battle
I barely stand upright, Wits dulled as chattle

The blood rushes back, Forgoing all amorr's
Fanged teeth-ed words, Fly out in offensive anger
Double edged verbs fly, From floodgates with no lever
Fired tempered words, People pretend forget but never

Tired battled both weary, If in a true breech
I'd slow my defences, N'edge toward my foes release
Earlier scars proof, In battle I won't wain
The faculties I have-not, To endure this soul's pain

I have no memory why, What rage started
But I do record this, November twelfth you departed
My counselours all say go and play, with our consent
Spring is nigh, Change is event Alas, Heart and soul be unrelent

Another glorious day, My unchanged mood black
Then recieves sweet note, From love's surprise attack
Sweet remedies abound, Vowed lovers forever
Just as before, People pretend forget but never

Dennis, plenty of heartfelt feelings in this one. As Helen has said, one never forgets, time just dulls the hurt. Nice poem. Thanks for sharing it. David

Love this Dennis, a most passionate write and I agree wholeheartedly, one never truly forgets, just file it in a less prominent position of importance when the need arises. Brilliant poem! HG: -) xx
