Waiting To Die Poem by Serena Blackinton

Waiting To Die

I've been sitting here waiting to die
Nothing here for me any more
You left me numb, disinterested in life
When you went through that door

You used to hold my hand while we walked
Life was bearable for a while
Until the wee hours of the morn we talked
And you'd find different ways to make me smile

But then I was gutted like a fish
Couldn't find the strength to even lie
Couldn't summon the hope of a wish
Just sat there and waited to die

Day after day it stays the same
Still feeling numb, numb, numb
Only now can I say your name
Without feeling dumb
