Unfinished Poem by Ryan Orleans

Unfinished

Rating: 5.0

Silence and stillness claim the heart
As tear-filled words rip two apart
Voices shake, fears and doubts start to wake
Like a sombre piece of woeful art

Stories recalled from way back when
Become faded memories of never again
Fleeting is hope, like a brief final note
That all once known faces its end

All starts dwindling, slowly away
Yet love holds on, love chooses to stay
It is there for all time, both yours and mine
It waits, and it waits; it will never stray

Remember me now, as I was before
I'll remember you too, the one I adore
For one day we shall meet, on a day so sweet
To love and be loved, by each other once more

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem today,25/04/2014. This was the day after my girlfriend of nearly two years and I parted ways for reasons too complicated to delve into. It was on good terms, and it ended with a promise. This poem tries to illustrate the feeling of loss we both felt at that moment and the lingering hope we had about the future.

What a very exquisite poem! I hope you find that lady again but, if you don't, remember that not all of us are so lucky to have had a love such as yours! I did, a half century ago, and it still warms my heart today! Keep writing!

What can I say Ryan! I really like this poem too! Although the ending of a long term love does hurt deeply I always feel that if you're meant to be together then somehow, someway you will. And if not it's because you need to be available for the person who is supposed to be in your life at some time. Just remember the great times, cherish the memories and let go with love. Oh yea, and please keep writing!
