Turmoil Of Youth Poem by Alan Bruce Thompson

Turmoil Of Youth

Rating: 5.0

The sweet boy comes to the end of his carefree days,
At the time of puberty the hormones amaze.
The beginning of care, of turmoil, of strife,
Not knowing who he is, or where  he is going in life!
Challenged by those in the outside world,
Confronted from within while emotions swirled.

Then comes the girl, what does she want him to be?
He's elated, he's frightened, and he wants to be free!
He's knocked over, he's seduced by her phemerones in the air,
He's blinded, he's lost by the uncertainty of her!
The love that sweetened those timeless hours,
The bliss, the promise, those illusory towers.

Now he's bored, tired of the endless rapture,
The absence has woken the spirit of adventure.
The arguing, the splitting, the dividing of ways,
The painful separation amid life in a haze.

Can he survive if this happens again?
To fall again in love, to avoid all of this pain.
Lucky are those who at first find the right one,
To be together forever, never alone, always at home!
