Troy Poem by Andrea W...

Troy

I should have gone to bed with my dreams of you
Things that wouldn't happen but ease my tortured heart
I smile when I think of you this way, someone who loves me
Me, and not the image created in your mind.

You asked me to accept you for everything you were
A work in progress, clay half-formed, primer laid on canvass
Promise shining beacons from the present to the future
So many things in common to pave the road ahead.

Now while the world sleeps, my aching void holds me erect
The you-shaped hole that you left is bleeding
I try each day to stem the tide, but it flows when I'm not looking
The wounds are my heart's tears dripping from misery.

Some sunset has taken you away from the sweet baby girl
That loves you.......yes.......loves you.
My self was not enough to be as beautiful to you
As the nothings that I now hold.

I will go to bed with my dreams of you
Things that don't happen, but ease my tortured heart
I smile when I think of you this way, because I love you
You.....even if only the image created in my mind.
