Inevitable Poem by Andrea W...

Inevitable

I saw the storm clouds gather before the rain began to fall

I thought I was prepared enough to stand against it all

Driving hard against my face, the wind has knocked me down

A swirl of crazy chaos as I look up from the ground

It's hard to breathe in all this fury, hard to feel the same

I don't know if I can hear you answer when I call your name

It's worse to feel the silence than to face the tempest swarm

Maybe I was foolish to have walked into this storm.

It was hard to know when days were quiet that devastation lurked

Gathering on the horizon to do it's final work

I wanted precious sunshine with what little time it had

I drank in all it's warmness before it was my turn to be sad

The rain beats down in darkness, unrelentless, I'm alone

I really shouldn't be surprised, I think I should have known

Known that the tearing down would be so incredible

The building up had been so sweet

It was...inevitable.
