Trials Of Fire Poem by Jordan Millar

Trials Of Fire

They say nothing lasts, not the earth or the sky
They say you'll never reach, so don't aim so high
They say you can't make it, so why even try?
Well I'm here to say, that that's all a lie
Nothing ever lasts, unless you help it grow
No one ever reached, unless they refused to say no
And maybe you can't make it, but unless you try you'll never know
They try to hold you back, because they're too afraid to go
They say that I'm young, that I haven't experienced love
But I know that they're wrong, what I feel comes from above
It's no ordinary feeling, this rush of excitement and ecstasy,
Whenever I think of you, and what we might be
We could travel the world, over every hill and star
Reach every desert, sail the seas over far
But unless we take the step, and swallow our fear
Well never reach our goal, we'll only ever come near
So walk with me, into oblivion and the space
Where any obstacle there might be, together…we can face
