This Front Line, This Narrow Scar Poem by Alan Bruce Thompson

This Front Line, This Narrow Scar

Oh how war has changed in 50 years,
Where is the front Line? the trenches? the barriers?

The virtual battle field, the Game Boys of War,
Means that for your dead bodies, I've increased my score.

You lie awaiting with dagger, sword and gun,
While I guide my missiles with precision to your home!

The gentleman's rules of chivalry apply no more,
In these times of remote destruction, these times of "shock and awe"

Your thousands of dead are worthless, only my few are heroes.
You must serve your new masters, bow to our egos.

You will give up your tradition, and worship my autonomy,
Where is this front line, this narrow scar of lobotomy?
