The Venomous Man Poem by Daniel Pace

The Venomous Man

I could make you cry with no more than a few words
I could turn my cheek at your suffering and hurt
I read you and see you for who you are
You can run or hide but you won't get far
Your secrets are mine, you'll confide in me
And that gives me all the leverage I need
You think you have the same but it's part of my lie
You're under a spell of my design
I'll whisper secrets you think are true
As to my true identity, you don't have a clue
No matter how intelligent are quick you may be,
I'll always manage to get your keys
Your most prominent sorrows and deepest regrets
I'll pluck each one from your head
And as you're trapped in this spell of mine,
I will destroy you in a matter of time
I'll watch just patiently waiting
Your sanity and well being is mine for the taking
Your thoughts are not your own, I put them there
By pretending to be vulnerable and pretending I care
I'm merely collecting the tools I'll need
To break you down until you concede
Don't be so quick to trust someone like me
I'll use it against you and watch you scream
Claw and scratch till there is nothing more
Of the person you remember being before
I build you up just to knock you down
You're not alone for I get around
For I am one of the masses of venoms out there
Who would break your heart without a care
Leave you a shell of yourself and move on to the next
Playing it over and over like a cassette
You cannot stop us nobody can,
There are far more of us than you understand
Venomous people, working as one
To make the world worse for everyone
