The Rhyming Man Poem by Mark E Webster

The Rhyming Man

The famous rhyming man of Kentucky
Considered himself extremely fortunate
To have chosen a career in rhyme,
And not a squalid life of nefarious activity
Although friends and family lived in dread
Of the incessant rhyme in all he uttered.
They stood by him and cheered his success
While he really couldn't care any more,
For his talent for rhyme had become an affliction,
Like an alcoholic with a serious psychological attachment.
But help arrived before he got worse
With his fortuitous discovery of free cognitive behavioural counselling sessions.
After which rhyme never entered his life.
And he lived out his days with his beloved parakeet.
