My Perfect Moment

Is it now?
Was it then?
Is it tomorrow?
Tell me when.
My day?
Your day?
A time when it was true.
This one's mine for now.
When will it be for you?
Can I name it?
Can I save it?
Can I hold it in my hand?
Is it huge like an ocean?
Or like a grain of sand?
Will it hurt me or desert me?
Will it fill my soul with pride?
Will it wash up in my harbour?
Sail away upon the tide?
Can you sing it?
Can you hum it?
Can you recite it from a book?
Does it need words to speak it?
Or eyes to take a look?
If I miss it will you bill me?
Will it be on the debit side?
Is it dangerous?
Will it kill me?
Can I sue you if you've lied?
Can I harm it?
Can I break it?
Can I cut it down to size?
Can I chat it up, befriend it?
Look it squarely in the eyes?
Will it spoil me and embroil me
In a tangle of deceit?
Will it make me say, 'I love you'?
Will it make my life complete?
Does it come soon?
Or on a blue moon?
Will it let me know it's here?
Will it sing a song to a new tune?
Will it long to hold me near?
I am weary
Can you hear me?
I'm about to close my eyes.
What?
You say it's coming?
Please don't spoil the big surprise.
I have waited.
I have loitered.
In a street of discontent.
Too busy looking,
My perfect moment,
Just simply came
And went.
