O free men from lands afar, where freedom reigns
Do hinder not such, as seek the same
Bruised spirits, minds scarred, broken and frail
Clinging fast to masts on ships, in flight set sail
Hearts rend, death, wars, distressing woe
We seek haven, where heaven's grace doth flow
Preserve our dignity we implore you friend
Our condition reverence, our plight defend
Shall Pity shut her ears this night
‘Tis our darkest hour of haste and fright
Sons and daughters to shores afar we bear
Our wounded spirits with blessed hope to share
Hear O hear our pleas this night
Our lives worth more than dime and spite
O friend make no exchange we plea
Our wandering souls seek Liberty
Forget not friend this life, so soon shall we depart
Our breath sustain, do balm our broken heart
O friend remember times of old, this land when pilgrims sought
Strangers weary, but not for nought
A haven prepared of God, where the persecuted flee
Land between seas, punctuated vales, resplendent beauty
Shall visions of greatness mar your halls unclean
Our bodies torn from home and friend
This new world of compassion, surely cannot end
Return us not the foe to face
Lives cut short for want of grace
Shall perpetual scars our burden be
While men the world, roam happy and free
O please tell us not it isn't so
That our lives this world, should be of woe
No ceaseless outstretched hand, for coin we bear
Our toil and dreams, we come to spare
A plea for life, our souls secure
Our battered ships please lead ashore
Just this once, from mortal lips of clay
Our portentous pleas, turn not away.
