The Lord Of Hosts Poem by Axel Durman

The Lord Of Hosts

Rating: 3.0

THE LORD of HOSTS

All thy works testify to thy wondrous name
Every morning thy glory still the same
Honor, power and majesty are all yours O Lord
From the earth below does my praise ascend
All your mighty acts can I not ignore
Your fame resounds through all the earth oh Lord of Hosts

Let my life be in one accord to offer you praise worthy for your courts
O Saviour how could I wonder from your path
My feet are established that I should not stray
Let my ways always be humble before thee that I may see and understand thy wisdom
A servant never to lift my head in pride
Teach me your ways out of your holy law
Fix my heart upon things that are righteous and just

Shut up my heart, seal my mind and teach me to know your ways
Fix my heart that I might be no stumbling block in the earth
Please be my bulwark against the enemy
Guide my steps by your spirit to choose good always
Presumption is an affront to the establishment of your throne O Lord of Hosts
Yet whoever walks according to your law glorifies you
Teach to praise you according to your Law
That the sacrifice of my lips may be acceptable always in the great congregation
For which I long to stand to offer praise

Who can know your ways
Only He who diligently enquires and gazes hard upon your Law
My heart is fixed O Lord of Hosts
The great miracle of your grace establishes me in faith to thy precepts
How I long for thy sight that I may stand in the great congregation to offer you praise
To bow before your great Mount Zion and offer praise to my King
Who shall withhold me in that day
Who shall keep my heart from speaking before my Lord
To pour my heart in worship before my King
The judge of all the earth
Who my soul adores more than the breathe within my nostrils

I glorify thee O Lord
With a humble heart that I should not lift my head up to heaven
Comfort in my heart by your spirit to thy acceptance of my humble praise

Thy Law has been my delight day and night
O Lord of Host who will not fear you
Though my eyes may run like a river for the zeal of your law
I hold fast to thy promises
My heart is guided by your Holy Spirit
Let my understanding of your commandments be perfect and established
