The One Ring

Humans
call him drinker
he siphons
the crystal seas
dwarves
call him disaster
he brings
the lasting disease

Elves
call him destroyer
he carries
the sleeping germ
Hobbits
call him reaper
he summons
the conquering worm

Balrogs
blindly obey him
they covet
the golden ring
Saruman
bows before him
he grovels
before his king

long moments
of haunting sorrow
wild unicorns
are slain again
the trumpets
sound the morrow
epic battles
will soon begin

Lofty mountains
conceal a creature
he schemes
within his lair
Gollum
ravages the teacher
he mimics
our last despair
