Coastal Dreaming

Rising mist obscures the vale
urban lovers map wild trail
volcanic peaks with glacial stir
Rugged slopes of Douglas fir

Winter rains develop a bog
mossy carpets envelop the log
scattered natives elect a leader
sacred groves of western cedar

pleasant towns with touristic boast
playful orcas migrate the coast
brackish bays bed with oyster
Maritime forests of pacific alder

jagged castles dwarf the shore
Raging surf at constant war
Fragile forces balance the truce
Beguiling shadows of Sitka spruce

secluded kingdoms of giant jinn
Prince Hyperion’s reign will begin
Living fossils survive as wood
hidden stands of coast redwood

Towering presidents protect a grove
natural riches enhance the trove
Weekend escapes within the Sierra
spectacular monuments the mighty sequoia
