The Madness Poem by Daniel Pace

The Madness

The Madness within me burns without light,
Like a roaring flame that's not at all bright,
It's always there within my chest,
It never leaves, though I protest,
Kill them all! It screams and shouts
I hear it in my head and can't get it out,
It stalks me always, concealed in the dark,
Frightening me with its vicious bark
That pure evil lurks, just beyond my sight,
When you can't see it how can you fight?
Infinitely fast, it's never far
I can't outrun it by plane or by car
It will not leave me, I cannot escape
The madness will inevitably seal my fate
But when I die, so will he...
For we are one in the same, my madness, and me
