The Lost Song Of Chi Ok Girls

THE LOST SONG OF CHIBOK GIRLS
Mothers! why are you so sad tonight?
and why is your heart so deep in sorrow?
oh! is it because of us?
the stolen maiden of fate
encamped inside the forest of foes
where snakes and guns
are making our conscience frowns

and we are no longer the daughters you bore
but we are now the new spirit of war
riding on their stiffer nails
when the blood of honour
i dreamt for my desired man
is now merely shed
by the phallus of shekarau's men
breaking our virgin moon
to make the sun sets on our shameless shadows

and hauwa is dead
while mary dauda is still writhing in pains
souls bending towards grave
weak and low for echoes of willing death
and we all bear the mark
the marks of impure oath
made at the point of swords

but, is dame patience still crying?
is she still shedding her crocodile tears?
now that jonathan children are no longer save
oh dear mothers! go back to your husband homes
and embrace the dreams of our jocund brothers
for i see them hiding behind the sea
waiting for you to be drowned inside their river of blood

Now go, go back to fathers
and let the angels of freedom set us free
though, our birth burden may make
thy groaning sights frail
but shall we ever see your smiles again?
Oh! we are the lost girls of chibok
and is there anyone looking for us?
