The Threat Of Love Poem by asaolu kolawole ifedayo

The Threat Of Love

I sought to love
but hate the candle-lit
burning blue to its wallow wall
of new found lover
utterly heart for mine; a kind sort of princess
her breath, my dictates

But you have found love in faceless mind
and i love you neither
never to tender you to sleep
when you ache from back to toe
and my laughter drowse you the more
virgin tears bring my soul to clap
a stuttering for pause
but my music to reign

But, who will teach me in silence,
how to truly love a woman
where little lake side birds
peck their worms to crawl
trilion lovers at my stake
but none for once my heart embrace
maybe my impatience or too much of pride
making blindness more injury to heal
and i will love my last angel

And she is here!
to give me her tender loving care
but how many kisses should i offer?
how many gifts should i tender?
and how many sex should i render?
maybe, no kiss nor gift nor sex
ah! she will melt with the sun
and i will laugh her to stupour

Until another comes again for me to taunt
O! she is here, tall and curvatous
mildly like a moving ocean
and i must love this till our shadow sinks
Ah! she has a stinking mouth
calling hungry houseflies to spy
Exit, exit you this dreadful toe of charming damsel

And now that my enamel is too weak to woo
bouncing wearily for ugly girls on the street
maybe i conjure one to love
and savour the blemish of any
O! t'is late, tis already last night hour
where all breathing beings bow to vanity power

But only loneliness could teach me now
the essence of endurance to all
the threat of beauty and love.
There is none!
none single human being born without some faults
