The Fire In Your Eyes Poem by Jojoba Mansell

The Fire In Your Eyes

The fire in your eyes once burned supernova,
but are those flames dying? Are we now over?
Once so full of promise and hope for tomorrow,
now those eyes are flameless, only filled with sorrow.
I try to kindle that lost spark, reignite the flame,
but something’s missing, flames won’t start, will never be the same.
I don’t know what stopped the fire, did it burn too bright?
Its heat was as a furnace we set ablaze the night.
If that fire is extinguished, will blaze again no more,
the heat will stay within my heart, of that you can be sure.
In my twilight years, should I sit alone at night,
I’ll sit and smile remembering your eyes, their heat and light.
