The Farming Life Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Farming Life

Rating: 5.0

So beautiful and impressive
The Clydesdales have such grace
A purebred you can tell for sure
For his lineage you’ll surely trace

But long ago they weren’t so lucky
Heavy loads they had to carry
Worked so hard out in the fields
No time to groom them or time to tarry

Farming the land was foremost
In the minds of the tired farmers
Not much time for showing his horses off
To display the handsome charmers

It was plowing from sunup till sundown
Dragging logs to built a house or barn
Out in the muck and dust they were
Not much time to spin a yarn

But now Clydesdale's can take it easy
And I’m so happy that it’s true
For I’ve seen these beautiful animals
I know you’d love to see them too!
