The Devil's Dance Poem by Alexander Thomas

The Devil's Dance

Rating: 5.0

I sold my soul to the devil,
For a half-hearted wink and a thirst quenching drink,
But not water instead poisonous ink,
To it I hold a mirror,
It will blink to its own reflection and the truth will sink,
To its own tricks it didn't think.

Our spirit can't be broken by sticks or stones,
But words can forever haunt our bones,
A heated war of hearts and minds,
By which a path to divine victory entwines.

The devil writhes from within ourselves,
Deeply inside you and I it delves,
Nimbly I walked through fires of hell,
To try to break this bewitching spell.

I sold my soul to the devil,
To smell a sweet flower for all but an hour,
But not to it so instead over me it could tower,
To it I hold a mirror,
I took its power so a torrent of truth I can shower,
And now with these words it will cower.

The subtle winds of fate shift time,
And the fast flow of this rhyme,
For this test of life is the devil's game,
Until we are as an angel tame.

With the light of love at our side,
In no shadows can it hide,
Because for eternity in the mirror to stare,
If to tempt the devil we dare.

I sold my soul to the devil,
A contract to bind in good faith signed,
But not of trust instead a noose to wind,
To it I hold a mirror,
With light to blind to make it see its own mind,
And make it kind.

In my dreams to be forsaken?
Is this the truth to which we must awaken?
The world is shaped by how we see,
With just words make it benevolently be.

Love is the immortal salvation,
In this should be the only inspiration,
Without kneeling in humility,
It is a long, long road to futility.

I sold my soul to the devil,
To fix a destined date with a seductive bait,
But not of love instead a trap of fate,
To it I hold a mirror,
To dispel hate and in reconciliation change its state,
To lead us peacefully through atonement's gate.
