Alexander Thomas Poems

Behold the power!
Bend down and cower!
Twisting and tearing through it will devour you,
The rain splashing, thrashing and lashing,
...

I walk upon these sacred sands of time,
Through towering dunes of wonder I climb,
Gathering the perfect moments that gleam,
To create the heaven of which I dream.
...

I saw you hiding your tears crying in pain,
Hoping that all would be washed away with the rain,
Perched on a cliff you were desperate to be set free,
You slipped and fell into the tempestuous sea,
...

I shed my appearance of the present time,
To return to man's immortal state sublime,
And be pure of nature and form,
Descending into waters clear and warm,
...

I sold my soul to the devil,
For a half-hearted wink and a thirst quenching drink,
But not water instead poisonous ink,
To it I hold a mirror,
...

Children of the dawn,
Go play in the corn!
Burn the house down,
And wear the sky as your crown!
...

7.

When lightning sparks the flame to burn bright,
All are drawn to the light,
When fire burns strong all will go brave into the dark night,
The flames dance will flicker forever in sight,
...

8.

When the wild, wild winds tear,
For thee so tender and fair,
I would not hesitate to dare,
To run my fingers through thine flaxen hair,
...

Such beauty beyond words!
Straining imagination,
Mystifying comprehension, unfathomable in design, staggering in subtly!
The sinuous lines and curves,
...

What a gift is life,
With glimpses of heaven reflecting,
And gracious fortune intersecting,
...

Your eyes are deeper than clear skies,
In your eyes true love never dies,
Your innocent eyes can never tell lies,
In your eyes your lonely soul cries.
...

Through the entrance stone,
Into another dimension I was thrown,
Pulled beneath mystical oceans,
Of swirling, torrid currents of emotions,
...

Through golden pillars,
Over silver-threaded carpets,
Sat upon thrones wrought from the Earth,
Bathed in the glow of fire on nature's holy altar.
...

In the grips of the dark night, I saw a most mysterious sight,
From outside of my window writhed a wistful, whistling wind,
My lace curtain like a ghostly veil, On moonlight seas a sail,
Doing an ethereal dance, behind a dazzling full moon grinned,
...

The tea in the cup stirs,
As we forget our cares,
With a cloudy swirl,
The winding stairs curl.
...

To life's reverent way the feather does fall,
Cast in a new pose I throw on this shawl,
As if a sculptor I chisel with my mallet,
As if a painter I mix colour from my palette.
...

With frenetic dance with age time speeds,
The question begs where all this leads,
If immortality is what together we seek,
To the stern face of life we can't be meek.
...

Beneath a sinking, slumping sun,
Nature serenely sleeping,
Wrapped up for biting, choking cold,
Cheery eyes peeping.
...

Skimming stones and stepping stones,
Muddy toes and a sunburnt nose,
A sleepy cloud passing over a noisy crowd,
Streaks of light across a gazing sky,
...

Out from the duct of the eye of time,
The slow trickle of a widening river of emotion,
Meandering from the dusty heavens sublime,
From the first drop into a boundless ocean,
...

In The Eye Of The Storm

Behold the power!
Bend down and cower!
Twisting and tearing through it will devour you,
The rain splashing, thrashing and lashing,
The wind bashing and smashing with lightning flashing,
All around crashing!
The almighty storm shapeless and without form,
Fiercely pounding, chaos abounding, the roar resounding,
All surrounding, astounding but confounding,
Relentlessly hounding!
Eaten and chewed; swallowed and spewed,
Spun round and scattered; beaten and battered,
Everything destroyed and abandoned in a void,
Heartfelt cries fall on deaf ears,
By the blasting barrage muted,
Confronting all fears,
Pulled apart and uprooted,
From the ground ripped,
Distantly thrown,
By anxiety gripped,
Isolated and alone,

Nothing left

… A wreck.
