The Darkness Of My Heart Poem by Catlin Kehoe

The Darkness Of My Heart

Where is my compass and map?
Where are my buoys and signs?
Where is my guide through this madness?
Where do I exit these mines?

I have wandered through the darkness.
I have ventured without sight.
I have journeyed with no sense of direction.
I have become lost in this night.

Who knew it was so dark?
Who knew it was so cold?
Who knew it had changed this much?
Who knew darkness had replaced the gold?

These caves go deeper and deeper.
These tunnels go round and round.
This stone creates a maze.
One in which nothing can be found.

I was once familiar with this place.
I once understood all its wonder.
But now you’ve disappeared.
And without you this place went under.

The moment you left my life,
My heart hardened to stone.
It became this darken labyrinth,
That now you have been shown.
