My Better Half Poem by Catlin Kehoe

My Better Half

Rating: 5.0

Half of me was missing,
And I could not understand.
I went through life in sorrow,
Turning my heart to stone then sand.
I never opened up,
I was always full of fear.
I shut out all the others,
All those that I held dear.

I heard of love and cursed it,
For it had forsaken me.
I was lost and all alone,
That is until I found thee.
You were all I ever wanted,
And all I'd ever need.
I became a better man,
And let go of hate and greed.

That feeling I once had,
Of being only half.
Was driven away when you were near,
And I could finally smile and laugh.
Who would have thought it possible,
For such a change to take place.
But this was all made true,
The day I saw your face.
