The Adventures Of Jonah Poem by Doris Clore Demaree

The Adventures Of Jonah

'Go down to Nineveh!' said God to Jonah.
'Tell the people there to stop their wickedness.'
'But I don't want to go to Nineveh today,'
Said Jonah. 'I want to go this other way.'

So Jonah bought his ticket,
Climbed aboard a boat going the other way.
'God won't know where we are,' said Jonah.

The winds blew hard.
The waves swamped the boat.
Everyone was afraid.
'I've done wrong!' said Jonah.

The sailors threw Jonah overboard.
God made a big fish to swallow him.
'Save me, God!' said Jonah.

Three days later the fish coughed him up.
'I'll go to Nineveh now,' said Jonah.
