That’s Not My Name Poem by Hebert Logerie

That’s Not My Name

Rating: 5.0

What did you called me?
That’s not my name
It’s a darn shame
In the year 2015
You’re still behaving like a bee
You will never be a queen.

You must be deaf or ignorant
That’s not my name
I can speak; I am competent
I am brave enough to put the flame
On your tongue, but I am afraid to pour honey
On your thighs, chests, chess, dominoes and ears
There’s no love between you and me
Around you, I only see tears.

Call me by my birth’s name
That’s all I want from you
Stop putting the blame
On the grill and the honeydew.

My name does not rhyme with hunger
And yours does not sound like rich
However, you will get respect and honor
If you treat everybody on the niche
Like you want to be treated
Like you want to be celebrated
You can call me sir or brother
And in return, you’ll be my friend or sister.
