Tell Me. Poem by Blessing Kalamatila

Tell Me.

Rating: 5.0

Tell me!
How do you live with yourselves?
How do you not think of the families that suffer the pain and loss of their beloved?
Like what do you Gain?
Every time you decide to wedge war against your own
When peace is what you're supposed to maintain.
I mean this is insane;
How you wake up only to fill the streets with blood stains of the people that peacefully protest,
The very people you swore to protect.

I am not even good at Math but the fact that you continue to point your guns at us;
With bullets that only tear us apart is self- evident of a subjugated future but I guess you weren't in class so peep the body mass;
When you multiply the bodies you take then add a little salt to the wound by killing more of the youth.
This brutality epidemic only proves to be a deadly cross sign of all times;
Can't you see just how you are the product of pain?
What happened to serving with a difference?
How do you sleep in your beds knowing you deliberately subtracted a life from this earth?
It's like you were monsters from birth and Death is the only quotient for you;
I mean take a look the number of the families you choose to divide by taking innocent lives just because they don't fall within your brackets?
I wonder!
Was this police unit created to oppress?
That even after we got liberated, we still remain in Chains; I digress.

See I find it funny,
How you use your aggression when it comes to us but we laugh knowing corruption is the neon sign that hangs on your profession that no one dares to turn off because everyone can see it but you.
But that's beside the point.

See!
I cry! When I remember, Vespers whose life was cut short because of Teargas.
Hear us; Jimoh Isaiq, whose last sight was a bullet moving at the speed of light entering his vibrant body that will no longer be warm;
Okechukwu Obi Enadhuze, a young man whose dream will never come to fruition as I near completion, how do you expect me not to seethe?
When George Floyds last word thanks to you were "I can't breathe".

Will you stop or just continue killing till there is no more of us left?
What happens to those that bid farewell early simply because they stood for what was right like the lekki toll gate genocide?

Cameroon remains submerged in Blood,
Congo experiences a holocaust of its time whilst Zimbabwe screams their Lives Matter.

I am amazed at how we are trapped in this maze called Evil, one that seals the Human Conscience and opens the doors of Human & Child trafficking that has gripped Ivory coast, Ghana and South Africa.
Is my Africa under a curse?
Cuz we kill the future when we silence the youth and opt to move in reverse.

The Chains of slavery are still clicking in Libya but take a mutation in Liberia and Namibia where the women lament with an urgency on the Rape emergency, I guess this is another resurgency.

See we are all African Queens and Kings but you choose to follow the wrong Martin,
But see I too have a dream;
Where the Men in Badges serve, protect and shun all brutality and we talk of it as History,
Where No men act like self- appointed Judges and revert to inequality but each one can tell his story.
Because that's the only way we can ever collectively attain Victory.

My brother you have said it all. I am sorry for the brothers and sisters shot killed here in Africa. There is a fact which we must always remember blood is a sacrifice. If there dermagogue leaders think they can just shoot people to stay in power every time they kill one the move a step out of power but they dont know that. We shall overcome some day. You the youths be more innovative. Use technology. I know they switch off internet but think.

See we are all African Queens and Kings but you choose to follow the wrong Martin, But see I too have a dream; /// touches my heart this line; everyone has a dream, has freedom but for the greedy throne the so-called leader makes the nation slave, slave to death! ! !
