Teeth Poem by George Hunter

Teeth

Rating: 5.0

Got up this morning to start the day fast
But that good feeling wasn't going to last.
Remembered a date with Doctor Kodama
The Japanese doctor from Yokohama.
He'd moved his digs up to 1st Street
To a brand new office, very neat.
He's a good dentist. a lot better than some
He takes good care of my teeth and my gums.
He takes great pains with his scrapin' and fillin'
And gives you a shot before doing his drillin'.
But the pain's not all his, I'll tell you the truth
Because I always have pain while he's fillin' my tooth.
A lot of the hurt I know's in my head
‘Cause the very thought of it fills me with dread.
The teeth I have left are all old and worn
And I know that I'm going to wake up some morn
And have to decide, ‘cause it's down to the wire,
On whether or not my real teeth to retire.
And have them extracted in bits and pieces
And finally get an oral prosthesis.
But I'd sure hate to have it done
Because I'm a stubborn old son of a gun.
Maybe it wouldn't be all that much worse
If I just happened to up and die first.
I reckon it would be a piece of good luck
If I was run over by a Bud Light beer truck.
