Talked About Not With Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Talked About Not With

Talked about not with.
Friends said to have,
Or valued relationships.
They are more talked about,
And not with...
Those claimed to know.
But not their feelings to exist.
And this is more talked about,
To then wish.

Easy it is to forget and leave forgotten.
Something to not have experienced.
Yet expectations to receive empathy,
Is nowhere near to hear or heard to get.
Before or after one heals to mend,
From a pain sustained felt to remain.
Until one day that process ends.
To leave others to wonder,
Why someone who appears the same...
No longer is to do an abrupt change.

"I saw them the other day.
And they acted as if,
I was not there at all.
To them I felt invisible.
Or a standing brick wall."

-I see.
Maybe they chose to ignore what they saw.
Perhaps to them you were invisible.
To remember what you did.
That your mind purposely,
Refuses to recall.
Doing what was done,
Expecting from you more of it to come.-

"That is so petty and childish."

-Like I said.
Maybe what you received,
Was a return to you what had been given.-

Talked about and not with.
To claim someone to know but not.
Or in close relationships or relatives.
People assume.
To know what they do.
But seldom is the opportunity taken,
Confirming what it is,
Easy to take for granted and dismiss!
A talking done to do.
With.
And not about someone claim to know.
Confusing what is understood.
Not to understand what they should.
