Superman Poem by Tiernan Booth

Superman

Rating: 4.5

Superman come save me,
I'm calling out come take me,
The walls are closing in,
Superman the air's to thin!
Here the monster comes again,
To take me to the devils den!
Superman I'll watch you through the screen,
I'll watch you save them, One, Two, Three!
And when you're done could you save me?
I'll understand if you're too busy,
Superman can you even hear me?
Now I'm a kid that still believes,
That underwater, I can breathe!
That in the night my eyes still see,
That heroes exist without having been seen!
The other kids make fun of me,
Cause I sleep with a nightlight so you can find me!
If I hide in a corner or under my bed,
If I hide with a blanket that covers my head!
Now I am a teen and I do not believe,
That fish can fly, Cause their fins are not wings!
I no longer believe that Clark Kent will come save me,
Superman's still a hero, now don't be mistaken,
But at the end of the night if my heart is still breaking,
The pain is still aching,
My body's still shaking,
No matter what Goliath I'm facing,
You can bet your life that God's who I'm chasing!

I question the sincerity of those who send the same exact message to every poet whose work they read.
