Summer Heat Poem by Kat Hanlon

Summer Heat

We were swinging and rocking in summer heat
It was in those days we had cans to make beat
Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
Swing and rocking all summer long

You were in that rocking chair
Rocking me in your lap with my hair in air
We giggled as we drank hard lemonade pop
My lips turn red from those icicle pops

Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
We were swinging and rocking in summer heat
It was in those days we had cans to make beat
Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
Swing and rocking all summer long

I sprang in that lazy river right after you
You stared at the naked me next to you
Soon one thing led to another
And were playing with each other

Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
We were swinging and rocking in summer heat
It was in those days we had cans to make beat
Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
Swing and rocking all summer long

You played that old banged up radio
Why I danced in skimpy clothes on your patio
I giggled when you played with my hair
As you remind me all the games you had me dare

Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
We were swinging and rocking in summer heat
It was in those days we had cans to make beat
Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
Swing and rocking all summer long
In summer heat

But one day
One day summer came to an end
School then is where we had to attend
And everything we had disappear in thin air
Autumn came with a thick windy crisp in air
Swinging and rocking
Swinging and rocking
In summer heat

Since then you never came to play
And that's fine I'm okay
Because I know it will not end
That summer heat music
When we swing and rock
It will never end
