Still Alone Poem by Matt Reyes

Still Alone

I've been walking this road for quite some time,
My soul's no longer infested with slime.
I'm shuffling along at a slow pace,
For I am the only one in this rat race.
And now from what I can tell,
This place is no longer my personal hell.
And my smile creeps up once more,
And my tears no longer fall to the floor.
It ain't so bad after all,
This lonely road where raindrops fall.
I should've realized from the start,
That there's noone here to break my fragile heart.
This single thought opens my eyes,
Aloneness is a blessing in disguise.
And knowing this brings me bliss,
Though your smile I sure do miss.
Being with you here would surely be great,
But your not, my fears alleviate.
For that means you're not lonely too,
And that someone loves you like I do.
But maybe things aren't as they seem,
Perhaps you will join me in this dream.
But till then I shall continue as such,
Hoping for you who I love so much.
And being here gives me time to think,
About you my missing link.
And now I am walking through the park,
And the sky begins to get dark.
And the clouds blot out the sun,
Yet I still walk, I do not run.
Then the rain comes pouring down,
And it washes away my frown.
No more emptiness within my bones,
How I love to wander alone.
