State Of Mind Poem by Caleb Campbell

State Of Mind

Do you ever just feel numb?
Like nothing pleases or saddens you.
You're just numb to the feelings and world.
Everyone gets this feeling it's true.

Maybe it's because it's just cloudy,
"Oh I'm just tired" is the lame excuse.
The phrase that hides the sorrow,
Something that we just use and use.

Emotions and feelings go on rampages,
When they settle down the cold numbness comes.
Days, weeks, maybe even months at a time.
How ruthless it becomes.

But yet there's no reason I should feel numb.
I'm happy, I have the life I want.
I live, laugh, love.
But something still just haunts.

Just going through routine, day by day.
Constantly in a zombie-like state.
Apparently nothing phases me,
Like I am in a state of sedate.

There's only one person who can help me,
The man I fall in love with, over and over again.
He jump-starts my sedated heart,
And I'm finally in a tranquil mind of zen.
