Soulmate Poem by Sebenzile Mamba

Soulmate

I really don't get it
Why have you decided to come back?
What have made you to remember me?
What made you to miss me so much?
I could see in your actions that you missed me a lot

You missed the taste of my lips
The freshness and smoothness of my thighs
You missed caressing my hair and telling me how beautiful and kind I am
You missed bragging to me about all your achievements in life
About your Degrees and connections with influential people
And the latest develops while with your soulmate
I really don't understand
Why you came back
And all of a sudden you decided to do all these kinds of stuff that you've never done before

I guess you still remember
How you ditched our friendship
You told me you've found the love of your life, your soulmate
I was left motionless because I didn't get a chance to say anything

Instead you were busy telling me that you get along quite nicely
And both of you are developing a very strong bond
Remember
You told me that she understands you better than anyone else
that you've met before
You told me that you shared the same dreams and how she wanted to travel the world just like you.
Remember
How you bragged about the way she respects you
call you sweet names and all stuff
How she honours you as her man
Yeah
Do you remember when you bragged about her job and her baby face
You told me that you two have started taking pre-marital counselling classes
And how she was more beautiful than anything that you've seen before

But yesterday you decided to call me
and told me that you're no longer with her
You sobbed about how she ridiculed you and called you names
You insisted that she was just the opposite of you
About how she called you a fool and useless man

I felt sorry for you because you're my friend
I gave you an ear because
I knew that you're upset and needed a shoulder to cry on

Then all of a sudden,
You asked me to be honest with you
If ever I had feeling for you
I told you the truth because I thought you deserved to know

But I really don't understand
What happened yesterday in the cab
Does a broken heart makes one to crave a kiss?
Does it makes one miss caressing thighs that they've never caressed before
Does a broken heart makes one to brush a forehead they never touched before
I wonder

I couldn't say more because I was surprised and shocked
I didn't know how to react
I just didn't understand anything
Instead I felt sorry for you
What you've been through
At the same time shocked on what you were doing

Forgive me
Don't you remember the time you left for her
I was left alone
without a shoulder to cry on
But within a twinkle of an eye
You needed me to be your shoulder to cry on

How can you lean on me
while I already have someone in my life
I can't be a shoulder to two
I've found a soulmate too, the love of my life
I've never seen someone handsome as him
And Yeah
Did I tell you that we share the same interests
How he understands me more than anyone I know
Wait, perhaps you should know that we've already started taking pre-marital counselling classing together too.
I can't say more to you about him
You can read and tell from the beaming smile on my face
when I tell about him
I guess this depicts that he is my universe

I don't understand why you turned on a deaf ear
And went on to declare your love for me
Telling me on how you've realized that you were busy
picking stones while losing a diamond

Your words tasted like honeycomb and were mouth-watering
They we so sweet
I could really fall for you
But
I'm not your Diamond
I'll never be

You never loved me and never will
You just have a broken heart that needs to heal
I'm not the lost piece of your puzzle
And I'll never complete your picture
I've already completed someone's puzzle
I'm already taken
Understand that and move on.

favorite lines so far: I couldn't say more because I was surprised and shocked I didn't know how to react I just didn't understand anything Instead I felt sorry for you What you've been through At the same time shocked on what you were doing and But I'm not your Diamond I'll never be You never loved me and never will You just have a broken heart that needs to heal speaking as a man, though an older one, much older, i can look at your photo (maybe not you?) and tell myself: Damn, i can see why he might want to act 'silly' around you. You must turn lots of heads! [maybe the poem is completely made up also] before i forget, let me say i am really enjoying this 'story'/poem. there are some minor English 'errors' perhaps, or places where i would use a little different wording, but this poem, when i finish reading it, will go into MyPoemList. i do not rate poems with numbers, but with my words and by putting my favorite ones into MyPoemList. I'm already taken Understand that and move on. .........................this reminds me of what a female coworker told me when i made it clear i was very 'interested' in her. she told me to go home and work on my (third) marriage; i'm with my fourth wife now, and SHE was never my coworker! bri :)
