Soul Sister Number 1 Poem by Gary Lewis

Soul Sister Number 1

Not long now before I finally depart

But already I feel there is a vacuum in my heart

Filled generally by your warmth of giving over the years

You were one of the few who genuinely cares

Equally understanding the complexity of my soulful mind

A soul mate like you will be hard to find

You gave me this rare space for me to grow

Allowing my jigsaw thoughts to sometimes finally flow

Romance was never an option of mutual pursuit

For we both knew that would be a risky route

Killing a friendship that has grown from a chance meet

Proud you blossomed into one of the pillars on Fleet Street.
