Shine Poem by Gary Lewis

Shine

Rating: 5.0

Mind games you play to drive us insane

Regularly treating us with disrespect and disdain

Judging our dark skin colour, assuming we are the bottom of the heap

Thinking we will hid ourselves in a corner and internally weep

For you then to smile thinking you have won

But we know you are just a con

We have a life to fulfil with a message to uplift our kind

Driving the message that will stretch those felt left behind

Turning our heightened anger into a recipe for success

Displaying to our people that we are a symbol for progress

So leave that negativity for the jealousites to contemplate

Cause no longer will we fall for their bait

Stay conscious, focus as its time to stand tall

Life has a limit so no more time to crawl
