Snowy Dazes Poem by Michael Peterson

Snowy Dazes

Temperatures dropping quickly
Clouds rolling in heavily
The brisk wind starting to pick up
An early December cold front coming in
Weathermen telling to bundle up and stay indoors
Ole man winter is finally awakening
Early morning dew turns to frost
The birds have gone south, the leaves all gone
A few flakes start flowing down from above
So many different shapes, all beautiful in their ways
The winter storm is arriving and it is going to be a doozy
The snow coming down like salt out of the shaker
Blowing to the winds tunes, swirling like dancers
Slowing building a blanket for the grounds warmth
Deeper and deeper, Heavier and thicker
Can't see the neighbor's place across the way
A blizzard a brewing, winter has arrived in style
An overnight storm brings school closings and children cheering
The snow blowers blowing, the scuff of the shovels
Where to throw all this snow, goes beyond the cold mind
Kids playing in the snow, snowmen growing
Forts forming, snowballs throwing and laughter soaring
Hating the cold, snowy days, enjoying the children's fun
Makes you warm inside to the cold winter fun
Memories of our winter fun and now our winter pains
Why ole man winter does his magic so well
We'll never know why he makes it so beautiful
For some a winter wonderland of white crystal
The rest is a pain in the old back and miserable
The first of many white snowy days, just can't wait
Give us our snowy days and beautiful landscape
Ole man winter is my friend, bring on the snow!
