Sleepless Night Poem by Patricia Gale

Sleepless Night

Rating: 5.0

My head pounding
All I hear is the thump, thump, thump
Like a bad reggae band sounding
I wish my spirit would just soar above this dump

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the nightmares all go away
Please no more visions, no more demons, and creeps
Let me awaken to a sunny day

Sunshine and roses
Not bullets flying, sinking deep into flesh
Blue birds and turtle doves
No more sense of blood so fresh

Try as she may it never goes away
Watch the food before you sleep
But still they return at the closing of the day
Make it stop, I wish to see no more tonight, breathe in, breathe deep

Read the good book
Send it all far, far away
I will pass this night by hook or by crook
Awakening to a brighter day is what I pray

I wish I may, I wish I might
Dream no more of darkness
Help me to walk in the light
Raise me high above my distress

Great poem Patricia, and if this is about you, i will pray with you...The Light is a wonderful place to be! Stay far away from the darkness. Even in dreams. The Light will keep it away! Blessings, Theo
