Sleep Took A Walk Poem by Rik Bertrand

Sleep Took A Walk

I am wide awake, wandering in the morning light,
My weariness has been with me throughout the night.
I feel sadness within my bones, and my heart is cold,
Sleep must have a conscious and be very bold.

I guess sleep went out for a walk tonight,
Along with happiness and the joy of the coming day.
It's not uncommon for them to slip quietly away.
They also need some time, to run and play.

I can survive a night without my precious sleep,
Tomorrow I will be dreaming while counting sheep.
Sometime days like this our bound to happen,
Like a day with no hot rock music, only Rappin.

Sleep went out on the town last night, I stayed home.
I walked around sleepless as my mind did roam.
I played solitaire games, and danced in the night
And finally in I found sleep in the morning light.

Sleep came home with happiness and Joy,
With dreams and hopes and squeaky yellow toy.
So I found my pillow and laid down my head
And I fell with sleep on my big soft bed.

REB (FEB 2012) because sometimes sleep isn't there
